Windows comes with some games installed by default such as Solitaire, MineSweeper and Hearts, which are favorite time pass games for many still. In this post, we shall see how to remove the default Windows games in case you do not want them or how to keep them in case you do not want them on your Windows computer.


If you have Windows computer, you would probably have seen some default games from "Start > All Programs > Games" as shown in the screenshot below.

List of games included by default on Windows 7 computer includes:
  •     Chess titans
  •     FreeCell
  •     Hearts
  •     Mahjong Titans
  •     Minesweeper
  •     Purble Place
  •     Solitaire
  •     Spider Solitaire
  •     Internet Backgammon
  •     Internet Checkers
  •     Internet Spades

Remove Default Windows Games

On Windows, the default games are accessible from "Start > All Programs > Games".  If you like to remove the default Windows Games, then the following will explain where and how to do exactly that.
  • Open Control Panel on your computer
  • Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features
  • Click on “Turn Windows features on or off” from the left column. You shall be able to see Games in the tree.
  • Uncheck the Games from “Turn Windows features on or off” from the left column

Keep / Add Default  Windows Games
For some of you who still play those default Windows games, you may want to keep them. But if you found those games removed and not accessible from  "Start > All Programs > Games", then you can enable the default Windows games by following the steps below.

  • Open Control Panel on your computer
  • Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features
  • Click on “Turn Windows features on or off” from the left column. You shall be able to see Games in the tree.
  • Click on the + sign to expand.
  • Simply click on the games you want to include.
