Many bloggers on Windows love Windows Live Writer! In a previous post, I blogged about Windows Live Writer being a good tool for blogging to multiple blogging services from a single tool. Windows Live Writer is like a “one tool for all blogging”.

Over the past few years there has been speculations that Windows Live Writer may be open sourced. And it was announced on December 9, 2015 . Live Writer has been open sourced. The project is called “Open Live Writer (OLW)”.

Live Writer is now Open Source!

The project is called  “Open Live Writer”. The official announcement is on .NET Foundation’s website (link).

It says:
“Today is the day. An independent group of volunteers within Microsoft has successfully open sourced and forked Windows Live Writer. The fork is called Open Live Writer (also known as OLW) and it is part of the .NET Foundation and managed by this group of volunteers”.
